About

Temae (手前) means "at hand" or "within reach" in Japanese.

It is also the term for the precise gestures used in the Japanese tea ceremony: pouring the water, turning the bowl, placing the teapot in the right spot. A word for everyday objects—those we keep close without a second thought, yet which truly matter.

Temae is the second shop I have brought to life in Toulouse, as an extension of Mademoiselle Nuage, my jewelry and decor boutique since 2014. I offer a different selection here: Japanese everyday objects, ranging from stationery brought back from Japan, to jewelry inspired by its patterns and crafted in my French studio, and vintage pieces hunted down one by one.

On temae.fr, you will find:

  • a selection of Japanese stationery (letter paper, postcards, washi stickers) brought back from Japan
  • yuzen washi paper posters and norens, printed and woven in Japan
  • washi paper lamps, handmade in my studio in Toulouse
  • gold-plated brass jewelry, inspired by Japan and crafted in my French studio
  • a selection of vintage kokeshi dolls, sourced throughout my searches

On each product page, the origin of the item is always specified: made in Japan, or handmade in my French studio. The two complement each other, without ever being confused.

The website is the digital extension of the Mademoiselle Nuage shop in Toulouse, where you can also find a portion of the Temae selection.

Japan, at your fingertips.
