A matchbox mini-memo featuring two rabbits for teatime
On this matchbox-style mini-memo box, two rabbits share tea around a small table: ウサギ浪漫 (Usagi Roman), a scene framed by roses in the style of an old-fashioned tea room. The phrase ぴょんとひととき ("a little moment that makes you want to hop") and the invitation ごゆっくりドウゾ ("please take your time") set the tone: a break to be savored without rushing.
The illustration draws on the visual codes of retro Japanese shopfronts, popularized by kissaten, those old-school cafés with nostalgic decor.
Tucked into a pencil case, a bag, or a desk drawer, this mini box is perfect for jotting down a shopping list, slipping a note into a package, or keeping an idea handy for an impromptu break.
A compact format in Mino washi paper, made in Japan
Each box contains 35 sheets measuring 45 x 63 mm, made of Mino washi paper, a traditional Japanese paper renowned for its soft texture and durability. Each sheet visually mimics a matchstick with a pink tip aligned with the writing lines, featuring a small illustrated rabbit in the corner.
Once the sheets have been used, the box can be kept as a small storage container for paperclips, buttons, or small trinkets instead of being thrown away.
This series won 2nd place in the Memo Award category at the 2021 Stationery Store Awards, a Japanese prize dedicated to the most creative stationery items. Made in Japan.
